More privacy with Ixquick searchengine with proxy service.

Additional feature surf the internet with a proxy and a SSL connection cert. via GoDaddy: http://www.youtube.com/ixquicksearch

Not a 100% security related subject, but very much about
privacy.

Yes, I was just checking it out. Funny thing is I don't get an option to add it to the list of search engines on the top right corner of firefox.

montres, you can add it via Mozilla Firefox addins (https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/search?q=Ixquick&cat=all&advancedsearch=1&as=1&appid=1&lver=3.5&atype=0&pp=20&pid=2&sort=&lup=) that is the route I used.

That worked! Thanks a lot, tubbygweilo. I guess I should have tried a bit harder. Imagine that I contemplated using ixquick through a bookmark!

From today proxy is enabled/active, so it is possible to search via a proxy. Via preference you are also able to start the engine via https and explore the internet via a SSL connection.

I use firefox add-on "add to search bar", this lets you add any search engine to your search engines list (except where a login is required).

I know this is an old thread but i had to share this easy step.

Hope this helps.

I have used StartPage on and off and while I love it's privacy features, I think it's too slow and I don't like how it limits your search results to a fixed number.

I prefer to use Scroogle's SSL search when possible. Scroogle has been up and down the last week or so, but it's back up right now (and has been for about 2 days), so maybe everything is worked out with them and Google.

When Scroogle isn't working, I prefer Duckduckgo (https://duckduckgo.com/). It also respects privacy by not recording IP's, is much faster than Startpage, is SSL enabled, and looks a lot like Google. It also does not limit search results. It's the 2nd best, imo.

Of course, there is also Yauba, which is nice but it doesn't have SSL which kills the deal for me. Gotta have SSL.

I've been using ixquick for quite some time but sometimes get the odd connections to Hurricane and Easyspeedy when using it.

Anybody else get https connections to 64.71.175.126 when using ixquick?

Please create a new thread rather than bumping an old one to the top.

Thanks :)
