Im running a P4 2.53Ghz
1GB RAM
N-Vidia Ge-force4 64MB.

DELL ST2310 23" Monitor. 1920x1080

And while screen savers run PERFECTLY SMOOTH while there are no applications running. I can launch something as simple as Terminal and the screen saver moves so slow that it stays at one frame for 5-7 seconds than skips probably 100 or so fames and holds there for another 5-7 seconds so on and so forth.

This makes absolutely no sense to me! my resolution is 1920x1080 standard HD.
And i know that 1 window shouldn't be killing my V-RAM. Nor video processing power.

Something i noticed, I can open terminal and leave the window at a small size. Screensaver runs fine. I make the window any bigger than half the screen, and it gets slow again.

As for other applications including File Browser Windows if the window is big, The screen saver can't run smooth, if the window is small screensaver runs perfectly!

As for Compiz it runs very well! i have Desktop cube, Jelly windows all of it!
And it runs perfectly with full size windows!!!

So i really don't think this is an issue with the graphics cards power.

note. Im using the NVIDIA accelerated graphics driver (version 96) [Recommended]
And it's fully activated.

If it's an issue with the drive, anyone know any better drivers for this card?
I've heard the version 96 and Ge-Force 4 never really worked the best with Ubuntu.

Im kinda lost... I'll be upgrading my video card eventually, But for now i'd like to resolve the problem.

Thanks for your time!
