I have the cutest little aspire 1, it wants to grow up and be a computer ... so I followed the directions to create the boot USB drive, and it will apparently load onto the aspire, but how do I remove <snip>? if I install to hard drive, and follow the instructions to restart, it automatically restarts in <snip>, even though I told it to format the entire drive into one partition. All I want to do is gut the <snip> off and have ubuntu on it. Short of ripping out the original hard drive and finding a totally blank brand new one, how do I do this, I have been surfing the internet searching for how to delete <snip> and having no success.

Which .iso are you installing? Using the graphical installer on the desktop version gives the option to use the entire hard disk. make sure it's the hard disk you're selecting.

You need to boot with the usb and then you will be able to install - use the whole drive to install and windows will be gone.

I assume that it is windows you are talking about - might be best for all if you keep the silly OS names to yourself.

You may need to change your boot order. Hit the power button and then:

Pressing the hotkey <Alt> + <F10> during the boot-up process
