I currently have hard-puppy linux installed on my main hard drive and windows 98 installed on my 2nd hard drive. GRUB is handling the booting process.

Can i dual boot hard-puppy and ubuntu off of my first hard drive?

You should be able to install Ubuntu to the same HDD as Puppy and end up with a choice to boot Ubuntu, Puppy or 98 at start up.
I think a menu giving thes options should come up automatically, if not tap the Esc key.
Just do NOT choose to use entire disk when you get to partitioning.

I'd think so, but what version of grub? What version of Ubuntu? What boot-loader is Puppy using?
