I've downloaded firefox 3.5 like tar.bz2 file. I read somewhere that this files are source and need to be compiled but i dont' know how to do that. Can somebody explain this to me because I really don't know much about Linux systems. Thanks:confused:

It says 8.04 but it is still applicable...

You will need to install build-essential first; get it by using the Ubuntu livecd or through the repos.

Just go here:

http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/firefox.html?from=getfirefox

This is an already compiled Linux version.
Click on the download link, save it, unpack it wherever you want and launch the firefox executable from it (ideally make a link to it in the menu). And you will receive updates for it just like in Windows.
