Hello,
I am about a week new to Ubuntu 9.10and I am generally very impressed. So much so that I put it on my Dell Inspiron 1420, my home built PC (Quad Core 2.4 ghz), and my thumb drive. 64 bit on the PC, 32 bit on the thumb and Inspiron.
On ALL systems listed above... once I have installed the basic system I used the update manager. They go dead (they don't get to the boot loader). So I reinstall fixes... reupdate killed again.. etc.
Obviously, I can't fear killing my OS everytime I want to update my software. I am entirely new to Linux and Ubuntu. I am operating on the assumption that it's something I am doing, or something that I shouldn't have updated. But I just update all and go with the default next's.
Anyone know of this issue, what is causing it, and what the solution is? Thanks in advance!
