If I try to enable the Reflection plugin (not cube reflection), it will enable just fine, except I get no reflection. The checkbox in ccsm is filled, but I get no effect. I have tried tweatking settings to no avail.

GPU: ATI Mobility Radeon 7500M.

Ubuntu 9.10

Doesn't seem to work for me either. I'm on an ATI 9200SE card, so perhaps it's just an ATI problem. All other compiz effects work well, however, so I can't imagine why a simple reflection shouldn't.

This just in! I get the same problems with the Blur WIndows plugin. If I recall correctly, I had the same problem on my desktop with a Radeon 200 Xpress before I put a GeForce 9500GT in it.

Problem with the ATI drivers, perhaps? I know the card can do it, because it [the 200 Xpress, anyway] could run Windows Aero. Why not this?
