Been using the beta for a long time.

I think it's still on the pre-release version on the Mozilla Daily PPA, which is actually somewhat broken. I updated to the latest release this morning and found that I could not use Java applets even though sun-java6-plugin was installed and the application fonts were horribly rendered.

Hopefully tomorrow's update fixes it.

I forget, if I download this new Firefox, will it carry over all my bookmarks, add ons, and eye candy?

I know to always backup my bookmarks JIC.

@ L4u

Yes it will, though i can't say about the addons compatibility.

As for more thorough backups, give febe a try:

I just re-installed Ubuntu to start using 64bit. Now I'm stuck with the 3.6pre from ubuntu-mozilla-daily ](*,)

If you don't mind an /opt install you can get 64bit builds here (ftp://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/firefox/nightly/latest-firefox-3.6.x/)

I've not followed 3.6 that closely more excited about electrolysis. The biggest thing about the 3.6 is it's an unstable release (meaning they are going to add features to it after release). As for features in 3.6.0 Other than a performance improvement the biggest feature has to be fixing a bug i cared about, still no progress on PGO though :(

I don't mind at all. In fact, that's how I was doing on 32bit Ubuntu. But it seems to be same version as the ubuntu-mozilla-daily build. I guess this is the only available 64bit version then. Thanks anyway.

It's called 3.6pre but it's from yesterday and is probably the official release, mozilla have no love for x86_64 though so there don't call any 3.6 or let the x86_64 build sit with the other boys in the release folder.
