Hey guys, I am a new Ubuntu user. I love it, such a great OS. I recently installed UNR 9.10 on my new netbook. Everything major like wireless and video drivers work fine, but the touchpad is giving me issues. It works as far as functionality, movement and scrolling and such, but being a netbook I brush it when typing quite often. The movement of the cursor is driving me CRAZY! No matter what I do I cannot find a way to disable it. Gsynaptics wont open because it says SHMconfig must be turned on. I tried enabling it with different posts around the internet; no effect. I tried syndaemon and it says it cannot detect a synaptics touchpad. The laptop is brand new, a Gateway lt2107h with the atom n450 processor and a multi-touch touchpad.

Anything you can think of would be greatly appreciated.
