Hey,

I have in front of me a Dell Inspiron 2650. I downloaded the iso on my other computer to make a live cd; well, that didn't work so well. My old Dell doesn't recognize the disk when booting up. I also tried making Ubuntu install from an extra usb drive I have sitting around. Like the disc, it isn't recognized when the computer boots up. Any help is much appreciated!

Did you tell your 2650's BIOS to boot from CD first?
Does it have Windows on it now?
Does it have internet access?

Yeah, I completely forgot about having it boot from the CD first. I'm having it install now.

EDIT: I completely forgot that a lot of BIOSes pre-2001 and 2001 don't have support to boot from removable devices! Okay, I've tried the install option from the live cd two times now; it doesn't seem to go anywhere. It just sits at a blank, black screen with the cursor blinking. Any clues?
