My laptop is a Advent 5301 http://www.uktsupport.co.uk/advent/laptop/5301.htm

Like most it has a Function button (FN) which you use in conjunction with the F keys to shortcut various tasks. Now these all work, my wireless, brightness, sleep, mousepad off etc etc, except the volume controls? Up, down and mute which are F3, F5 and F6 respectively. When FN + any of these are pressed, the volume slider appears top right and flashes a little and is then stuck there, and doesnt respond to the shortcuts? Also, the top taskbar is then "crashed" and I cant access applications etc or even the shut down controls?

Any ideas?

ust playing about, and I can set the 3 controls to F3, F5 and F6 WITHOUT the FN key, but as soon as I want to use the combination of FN + Fxxx, it goes skitz?
