First of all, before someone freaks out, let me say this:

I am ripping an encrypted DVD to my computer (that I own) as a legitimate, legal backup. Anyone who abuses this thread to do otherwise is breaking the law. I will not be held liable, nor will any other member of this forum be liable for your actions if you choose to break the law. Ubuntu staff, please do not block my thread.

For my intentions, I am wondering if it is possible for DVD::Rip to make a backup of an encrypted DVD. Any ideas? Will this program support such a thing?

One more time. What I'm doing is not illegal. If it were, every single professional DVD Backup Program out there would also be illegal.

Step1: make sure you've got libdvdcss2 installed.
You can grab it from the medibuntu repository here (http://www.medibuntu.org/)

Step2: copy disc from your gnome desktop to make an iso image (that some players like smplayer will happily play), or burn the image to a backup DVD for safe keeping - so your original DVDs don't get scratched if you want to watch a movie.
