The Bye Bye Gimp (http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1330937) thread was picked by Groklaw (http://groklaw.net/). If it is not the first page, look back a page or two or more.

couldn't find it.
Went back to mid December...
And a search for [ubuntu gimp] came of blank.

It's still on the first page of groklaw at this time.

Still is located here. There is a link to it in my original post.

I can't seem to find it either.

Wait! Found it. it's hiding way on the right side of the page. Basically, where you would never bother to look for any type of information.

Just looks like a link. So, is the news that the majority want it, or is the news that despite this the devs are ignoring their community and removing it? They've gotten me looking elsewhere from an OS standpoint over this very thing. Less because it is gimp and more because of the illogical rationalization of trying to stay primarily within an aging form factor limitation and against the greater participating communities desires. The fact that they refuse to recognize the community and the fact that it is gimp and they aren't replacing it with anything near the calibur of gimp is a great, huge, failure on their part IMO, and bad overall for ubuntu. If you want lightweight and designed to run with resource limitations and older hardware in consideration, go to xubuntu. Thats why it exists.

I'd be curious to know what groklaw's interest in it is.
