after upgrading to 9.10, my splash screen is about the size of two screens(the splash resolution is right, but there is black space to the right that I can access by putting my mouse all the way to the right). The desktop is the same way.
The only way to fix it is to go into the screen configuration and drop the resolution to something lower than 1680x1050(which is my monitors max) and then bump it back up. going straight to 1680x1050 causes my screen to go black and there only being my mouse visible(which I can move, so it doesn't freeze)
any ideas on this? every time I shut down it happens again, it's a nuisance
