i have an old eeepc 701 that i havnt used since i replaced it with an eee900.

i cannot sell it because it has been converted in to a tablet (since this the wifi is abit sketchy unless im with in a room or 2 of the router) but i will willingly throw in a cheap usb bluetooth dongle to give it some form of wireless communications if i can think of a use that needs it .

so im looking for ways i can put it to use. as it is now just a slate tablet with , no keyboard or mouse just touch screen.

i was thinking of removing the screen completly and using it as a kind of mini server , but all my server needs are currently convered by my torrent slave right now .

another idea i had was adding bluetooth and using it as a fancy giant remote control for my htpc.

Mount it in the dash of your car.

Buy Plastic Box and Antenna and make a WIFI AP (outdoor)
(it have internal antenna behind the LCD screen to connect to an external one)

thanks for the links, i have read alot of your blogs before , lots of usefull info in them

i love the idea of dashmounting it in a car, but i need 2 get a car first lol :p

a decent sized project box could open alot of potential for it! thanks.

i was thinking of the obvious digital photo frame idea, but i already have one (well not in the traditional sence, its a 15" monitor stuck in a home made frame)

I also have an old EEEPC 701, I'm using it as my "Dropbox"/Server/Streaming machine/Torrent Slave, etc.

They're perfect for the job: low power usage, enough power to serve pretty much anything. The only thing I had to add was an external HDD, 'cos you know... 4GB isn't much in terms of storage.

Mount it on a wall and connect it to your other desktop via NXClient and use the virtual desktop. Have only an audio player on that screen so whenever you want to play music you just touch the song you want and it plays in the room.

keep it permanently on last.fm or pandora and use it as a radio in some part of your house that you or a loved one frequently is. example, if your household has someone that spends an hour or two cooking every night... toss it in the kitchen.

1. Use it for a frisbee

2. Use it to set your Wii Fit on if your carpet is too thick.

I was gonna suggest controlling your music library from it, like a touch screen coffee table "jukebox", but that pandora idea is pretty rad too..
