When i start ubuntu, it goes to a initramfs thing.

It was working fine not long ago.

I have tried reinstalling, but didn't work.

Can someone please help!!!

if you installed with wubi, in windows, do a chkdsk /f. then cleanly reboot into ubuntu

Yes i did use Wubi, i will try that.

But the wierd thing is - it was working fine until i tried to install wine and it came up something about - "Read-Only filesystem" and it went all funny when i shut down and then it wouldn't starup.

By the way, It works if i use virtual machine with the ISO file.

What do you mean by "Cleanly reboot into Ubuntu"?.

Tried chkdsk /f but nothing has changed - still initramfs.

What do you mean by "Cleanly reboot into Ubuntu"?.

that means letting the computer restart and not taking off the power/pressing the restart button.
you might want to run a chkdsk /r

Hi everyone,

I have the similar issue. I had windows xp and xubuntu 9.10 installed in my ThinkPad T400 laptop. It was fine until I blindly upgraded all the packages. It came out (initramfs) prompt when I tried to reboot xubuntu. I don't know what I can do for it. Please help!!! -- it is very urgent -- please!!!
