Hello everyone, I am new to the Forum and also new to linux. i installed Ubuntu 9.10on my lappy yesterday and so far I am loving it. I was reading that you can install KDE desktop and decided to try it.
i went to the synaptic and downloaded the files that I needed.
Well when I select KDE on the login screen it boots to the desktop but is still Gnome.
When I restart the machine it loads up and says kubuntu(so im thinking its working)
It loads up, I enter my User account on the login screen which is the Kubuntu login screen. It boots to the desktop but its still the ubuntu desktop.

Am I missing something here??

BTW-Ubuntu 9.10

You have installed KDE but you will also need to change

the session at the login screen to use KDE.

you will find a session option at login screen change it to KDE & login

Yeah I was doing this before. I would logoff. Select KDE and then log back in but nothing was happening.

Anyway i got it working now. I had to reboot the machine a couple of times and It started working.

Now If I could just figure out the slow Internet that would be great. What Is funny is that when I booted into the KDE desktop the internet worked fine and was fast but when I go back to Gnome its slow.
