View Full Version : [ubuntu] Loading Grub

Dear Ubuntuers,

I have just installed 9.10 (dual boot) and the install went fine.

I rebooted several times with Ubuntu starting fine each time.

I then booted windows which also went OK after windows had initiated some chkdsk runs.

I then tried to reboot and the system seems to hang at 'Loading Grub'.

My suspicion here is that Windows messed up my grub settings during the chkdsk operation.

Arrrggghhh!

Does anyone have any tips for me? Maybe there are utilities available to fix this? Or maybe I could do it from the command line when running a live boot (that works OK).

Many thanks for any tips you have.

Regards,
Alan Searle

Dear All,

I managed to find some instructions and was able to recover the grub and the multiboot. That was great!

But I find that can boot Windows and work normally but, when I try to re-boot, grub is broken again and I need to go through all the grub-recovery steps once more.

Any ideas how I can fix this? What is Windows doing here?

Many thanks,
Alan Searle

I just posted on your other thread. The forum frowns on dual posting for the same issue.
