Hey!

I'm in need of drivers for an old printer (Canon LBP800), If no-one has got it. It would be awesome if someone would either make one, or give me some advice on how to make one myself.
I'm a coder. But I've not tried making a hardware driver yet. And this would be a funny opportunity for me to start that.

Could I make this with python, or do I have to use C++?
Are there pages which would guide me through making hardware drivers?

Would really love some help on this, as I've been searching the net and have not really found much...

Cheers,
Artheus

You've marked this thread as solved but I cannot find the driver on the page(s) you've referred. Am I missing something?

I just find my self going in circles from one link to the other with no driver.

Please send me a direct link for the driver if you can.
Thanks!

Sorry about that. when the link was posted I was able to follow the link to the driver home page. but now that seems to only throw an error, and I can't seem to find the driver files any longer. And I'm sorry, but I doubt that my father still has theese driver files. I'll check with him, and post them if he still has them.

Cheers,
Artheus

artheus, thanks for your response. I actually had the C source file of the original driver when I used 7.x but now I don't seem to have any of my old copies. Thanks anyway!

Here you go. An excellent repository for Canon. And if you didn't already install it, you should try Ubuntu Tweak as well.
