Wierd error message at install

While try to install hardy I got a weird message and just thought that the cd got ruined. Later I tried an Intrepid cd and chose the "check cd for errors" option. I got the same weird message= i/o error dev sro section 1431248, followed by this message= buffer i/o error dev sro block 35712. The 2 messages keep repeating and then it says "No errors found". When I tried to install I got same messages repeated continuosly. What in the world is this.
