pink screen when i try to install?

ok so im in the army and iraq currently. and i have a spare laptop and some free time so i decided to learn linux. but i am unable to install ubuntu (the new one koalla something) to my laptop. i have the version for amd processors so i know thats not the issue. when i try to install it starts up i see the ubuntu logo and my screen either goes pink or turns into a rainbow of colors. does anyone know what im doing wrong?

I tried using both the disc for AMD and INTELL just for ***** and giggles, but still to no avail. i hope someone knows what im doing wrong. this laptop has 2gb of ram the computer scored like a 4 on the windows rating thing, so its ok.
