View Full Version : [SOLVED] run command & starting directory??

January 14th, 2010, 10:31 PM
Does anyone know what controls the starting directory when I start 'xterm' using "Run command..." (from the menu that comes up when I right-click on the screen)? The natural expectation would be to end up in my HOME directory in the xterm window, however, Ubuntu 9.04 takes me to /Documents instead. I could not care less for /Documents and would like to get back the old behavior on my box...

Yeah, don't ask me why. See this huge mailing list thread (http://readlist.com/lists/kde.org/kde/1/8160.html) about it.

Yeap, thanks for the useful pointer. The solution in the end, for me, was to edit .config/user-dirs.dirs . In principle, the same should be possible under "About Me" in the menus but those changes never got saved for some reason...
