If you want to get the download, might be worth waiting a few hours till Thursday for Alpha 2. Release schedule as follows.

December 10th, 2009 – Alpha 1.
January 14th, 2010 – Alpha 2.
February 25th, 2010 – Alpha 3.
March 18th, 2010 – Beta1.
April 8th, 2010 – Beta2.
April 22nd, 2010 – Release Candidate.
April 29th, 2010 – Final release of Ubuntu 10.04 LTS

The next release is 10.04, lucid lynx.

It is also a Long Term Support (LTS) release, so it hopefully will fix 9.10 bugs.

Personally, Windows Vista is to Microsoft what Ubuntu 9.10 is to Canonical. Windows 7 is to Microsoft what Ubuntu 10.04 LTS will be for Canonical.

Sigh. Vista wasn't bad, and 7 .= Vista.

Well "Good" and "Bad" are relative terms anyway. What constitutes a Good OS for one maybe Bad to another and vice versa. ^.^ And Win7 is largely vista. With some new toys (including theming..if you can truly call it that) and fixes. Windows 7 though is probably Microsoft's best release yet.

That said I'm also looking forward to 10.04
