Virtual Console not working with dual monitors

i am running karmic on my laptop, and i have another monitor set up so that the workspace extends onto that. however, when i switch to any of the virtual consoles (CTR+ALT+F1, CTRL+ALT+F2, etc.) i only get a blank screen on both my laptop monitor and external monitor. any suggestions on how to fix this?

The framebuffer device that serves the output for consoles doesn't support dual screens. There is no fix -- this is working as intended.

i didnt expect it to; i would be more than happy if it worked for one screen or the other. are there any ways to accomplish this?
