hi i am trying to install ubuntu 8.04.3 sever at my computer throug usb but error is coming cd rom cuold not b detect

how to solve it please help me out

Can you run a live CD on the machine?

no it also have a pro busy box will come and not start

And have you tried 32 bit? Alternate? Other Linux distros?

yes i did try all versions only 9.10 is working but i want 8.04.3 for long term support

I suggest installing 8.04.3 minimal, then adding the server software afterwards. Infact, I think it gives you that option during the install process.

Hi, just a quick note.

8.04.3 will be superceeded by 10.04 at the end of April 2010 - You may as well run with 9.10 & then update to 10.04.

If the machine is non-critical, you can run 10.04 on it now - but it is still under testing and may break on occasions.

Which is 8.04 getting ready for update to 10.04.
