Why does Ubuntu Software Center not provide WINE? I can find it in synaptic package manager but it will not install properly getting errors.

Anyone know if I update all the 9.10 packages in the Update Manager if wine will then work?

Why don't you use Ubuntu Software Center? If you're using GNOME, go to applications, Ubuntu Software Center, from there, type Wine, and two versions should appear. Personally, I prefer the beta version (Version 1.1.31). Click install, and your golden! ;)

I'm on 9.10, and Wine shows up in the Ubuntu Software Center, and works fine.

I am having the same problem. Error at 50% and then prompts to check internet connection. I think something is "down" somewhere and I will check to see if I can install tomorrow.

Do you have a list of all the programs wine can run?

Well it depends which version you're talking about, and it can change any time. The list you'd be looking for would be a list that has every program that ever ran on Wine, and a specification that tells us on which version it ran.:D
