Well I got exposed to Ubuntu last year during a computer course I was doing and after the initial discomfort with something new I'm in love with it. I'm now dual-booted with WinXP SP3. After some time I have realized I can do almost everything in Ubuntu that I can do in Windows so I'm thinking of making Ubuntu my sole OS.

However obviously gaming is an issue and even though WINE & PlayOnLinux do offer some resolutions to some games I'm beginning to feel as if Windows would sort everything out. I knew you could install Ubuntu inside Windows using VirtualBox but only yesterday did I find out I can do it vice versa. I found some tutorials but they are for old versions of Ubuntu & I was wondering if anyone had any experience with a more recent version or at least know where I could find some recent tutorials.

Thanks in advance.

Windows as a guest OS in Virtualbox won't work well for games (they can't "see" your graphics card). I therefore recommend a dual boot for gamers.

Lots of Virtualbox information here:

Are you thinking that installing virtualbox and creating an xp virtual machine will solve all your gaming needs ?

It won't.

Although there are many great games that run through linux / wine / playonlinux, vm, ect, it is not likely yet to give you what you want.

You'll probably still need your "real" windows install for a bit yet.

Go to the virtualbox website and view some of the tutorial videos.

Then ask any further questions back here.
