U60 screen problem
Hi all i just installed ubuntu ( latest version) within windows on a Gigabyte U60

The problem is that the screen only shows the top right hand corner of the desktop. The monitor is undetected and the default resolution is 1280x728 (or similar) when i switch it down to 800X600 ( the natural resolution for the monitor of the U60) it seems to zoom in further and the text gets bigger but even less of the desktop is shown.

What's the problem here? Is it vga drivers or should i be looking at how to define the monitor.

I have some vga drivers from gigabyte ( for ubuntu 7.04) but I don't know how to install them. Plus the screen image looks good and so it doesn't seem to be a driver problem.

A little help would be appreciated as I am a noob with a mortal fear of console windows
