So, I noticed today that my Ipod syncs faster running Windows 7 in VirtualBox on 9.10 than it does when I am on my actual Windows 7 system. And it is not just a tad bit faster but insanely faster. On my Win7 box it takes anywhere from 15 minutes to an hour to sync the 4 gigs of data I have on my Ipod, but on 9.10 with Virtualbox it takes around 1 to 5 minutes.

I'm not sure if I am missing some great thing to explain why this is happening, but I like it.

Edit:

Actually I found out much later that the problem is with Windows 7 and one of it's USB 2.0 drivers. If you disable it in Windows 7 the Sync works just fine. But since I just use XP in VBox now no longer an issue or concern.

How old is your windows install vs. the one in VirtualBox?

How many application do you have in Windows Install vs. VBox?

All factors of speed.

But linux is still magic.

Don't do the victory dance just yet. In linux, it may show that it has synced, but the actual writing may still be taking place. If you try to eject the iPod, do you get a "device busy" message?
