hello everyone, this is a great forum. i'm installing u9.10 on my desk top, a pretty basic setup - amd 3200 barton core, 1gb ddr400 ram, gforce fx card. but any way i burnt the iso disk and booted from it and am running the optional tests and checks before install, i did the first couple but now on the memory test it's been running this test for over 9 hrs. i'm not in a hurry but is this lengthy time normal?
thank you in advance, mitch

Yes, memtest can take some time. Some even suggest leaving it overnight.

Is there any reason to believe you have faulty memory?

no, i've been using xp and everything is as good as it can be w/ ms. memtest still running, counter is 26 hrs 25 mins. i dont care how long it takes as i have several computers i was just ckecking to see if this is routine. the graphics in the window are working and it reads test # 8 is 97% complete. i think/hope its all good mitch

i may stand corrected on the memory being good....the memtest never finished so i've just been using from disk. i've got 2x512 kingston or another 'name' brand DDR400. heck, i didnt even know memory could go bad :( mitch

If I remember correctly memtest just continues running until you shut it down. I may be incorrect as I only used it once ever.
