Hello,

I've setup a locked down environment in a public library. Basicly the users only have access to Chrome and OpenOffice. Now I wouldn't want the users to see any other files or folders, besides home dir, when opening documents. I've tried creating the .hidden file, but that only works on Nautilus. I woul also like to have access to any removable drives, that the users connect. So, is it possible, to hide all except home dir an removable drives?

Is jailkit a solution? http://olivier.sessink.nl/jailkit/

Hi,
Install LTPS and thin-client so you could customize user environment easily (Hiding folder, enable user to use removable devices...).

Here's some links :

Installing an LTSP Server (https://help.ubuntu.com/community/UbuntuLTSP/LTSPQuickInstall)
LTSP Client (http://www.beginlinux.com/server_training/linux-terminal-server/126-linux-terminal-server/1056-ltsp-client)

I've already tried the thin client system, but the problem is, that I don't have a machine, capable of being a LTSP server and the network is very weak, so I would like to solve this, by using diskbased instalations.
