Hi all,

I installed ubuntu 8.04 version.
After that i am able to connect to the internet.
it automatically detects the route settings.
next i try to upgrade from 8.04 to some 8.10 version
half the way my power gets off.
so upgradation stops in half way.
i am able to boot now.
Also ubuntu is able to detect the internet settings.
but recently i am not able to connect to the internet.
how to debug the issue.
i have dual boot ubuntu with vista
my vista able to connect to the internet.

A partial upgrade may be tough to troubleshoot. One option - not necessarily a good one - would be to re-install 8.04 and run the upgrade again.

It might be that only a setting got lost. What internet settings does it detect? Does it get IP address? Can it ping router/modem/whatever?

yes,it try to get the ip address from the router.
its ok.
i try to re-install ubuntu.
so the procedure is like, un-install ubuntu and then install the ubuntu again?.
Ok.
Thanks for the reply.
