Hello, what software would you recommend for voice chat?
Does gaim support, that kind of communication?

Any advice is welcome

The Paltalk plugin for Gaim works well. Although it crashes some times and audio breaks up a bit now and then. They haven't updated it in a long time.

Gaim is working on gaim-vv which is video and voice chat features in gaim.
They won't be out by the next release though (which will be ready for Dapper, I think)

It does appear you need to sign up first.

I recommend skype :)
I use it myself, on Windows and Linux, very cool. Here's how to install it:

Don't use Skype. It creates one hell of a lot of network traffic and you don't have the slightest idea of what it is doing. Further, it is closed source and closed system. You can't really talk to anyone except other skype users.

Use Ekiga. It uses standard SIP protocols and you can sign up with any number of providers all of whom can talk to each other. Try Free World Dialup for starters and I also recommend Gizmo since it allows cheap PC -> telephone calls.

Gizmo: http://www.gizmoproject.com/

Gizmo also has a client that you can use, but I think that Ekiga works much better.
