i did the update to 2.6.31-17 generic last night and when i restarted the computer and boot from the 2.6.31-17 generic it tells me you need to load the kernel first... someone please help me im still new to linux... i got about a month use...

Can you still boot 2.6.31-16?

i can only boot from 2.6.31-14 when i try to boot from 16 i just restarts the computer.

It might be interesting to see the output of:


sudo apt-get update

Just to see if there are any errors. Also:


sudo apt-get -f install

Just to see what it says, if it recommends removing stuff I wouldn't do that just yet or you might end up not being able to boot -14 either!

It might also be helpful to see the output of:


cat /etc/apt/sources.list

You could also go to Synaptic Package Manager and see if the Broken package filter shows anything.
