i want to install Ubuntu in external harddisk.
i use window visita now, but i dun want to install it under windows.
how can i do so?

First thing is to read this

One thing to bear in mind: If the external HD is alway plugged in, you should not have a problem. If it is not always there, it might be simpler to shrink your windows partition, and install Ubuntu onto that drive, leaving the external solely for data storage.

btw, one more question, when i boot up with CD, the language selection page doesn't show up.
Instead, it show a command "boot>"
I dunno how to boot up with CD and install it..
plz help me ><

Let's revisit the beginning of getting & making the Live CD.
1. Did MD5SUM (https://help.ubuntu.com/community/HowToMD5SUM) the iso you downloaded prior to making the CD?

2. Did you burn the CD at a slow speed? 4x-8x is perfect.

3. When you boot the CD choose "check disk for defects" prior to doing anything else.

To me it sounds like you have a corrupted iso or a bad burn.

How about MD5SUM the iso. What were the results of that? if the iso is no good then any burn you make will be no good also!

i follow the step of MD5SUM on Windows.
the result is "MD5 Check Sums are the same"

this time, i install ubuntu in USB disk and boot it up.
the ubuntu page is shown up, but it has no response when i click "install ubuntu with USB disk."
after i choose boot up, it said "could not find kernel image:/casper/vmilnuz"

wat can i do =="???
