After months of pain and googling, I finally found out how to (in realtime) change the size of the toolbars in gnome. Also change the colours, titlebars, all theme elements etc in realtime.
Its a tool called gnome-color-chooser
For all you awesome dudes who thought gnome buttons were too big, or that the scrollbars were too small... this is the program for you!!
I know there are lots of you out there wondering why you can't do this from the Appearance applet. Maybe its time for this to be merged in.
