View Full Version : [ubuntu] Broadcom Wireless Device Won't Connect to network w/ security enabled

January 8th, 2010, 09:21 AM

I'm new to Ubuntu and Linuux in general, and i've had the hardest time setting up my wireless card.

I'm Using:

MSI K7N2Delta LSR and an AMD Sempron 2800+

Wireless Device

Broadcom Corporation BCM4306 802.11b/g Wireless LAN Controller (rev 03)

and i'm using the Belkin driver

i used the ndisgtk to install the windows drivers but i also installed the

bcmwl-kernel-source package from the install CD which included dkms, fakeroot, and patch packages.

I am trying to connect wirelessly to a qwest router/modem which connects via phone line.

I can connect to the network when i turn the security off, but when i turn any kind of security (i'm set up default on a 'auto WPA or WPA2' and would prefer to use it as all the other computers on the lan use it) my wifi makes a busy signal and then asks for the key. how can i fix this?

also my wifi card has intermittent times when it will not connect to the network.

any help is greatly appreciated.
