I'm working on a machine other than my own, has Win XP and a Wubi installation of 8.10. first there were problems with firefox, i was unable to uninstall and reinstall firefox, the update manager just sits there and doesnt do anything, same when i try to upgrade. I'm ready to reinstall ubuntu but i dont know how when it's done through Wubi. leaving XP alone is an absolute must. How can i change the installation of Ubuntu? i've got the latest disk, but not sure how i can partition the drive.

Just remove the Ubuntu Wubi in the Add/Remove programs list in XP. When you install Ubuntu the installer will walk you through the partition process. All you have to do is move a slider to specify how much you want Ubuntu to take up, hit next, and you are basically done.
