View Full Version : Is font cleaner looking in Firefox 3.6pre??

There have been a number of recent discussions about how [in certain circumstances] the Firefox font looks bad and any number of solutions: I'm not asking for a how-to, rather a comparison to previous versions of Firefox. For example, I've been using Verdana 7pt for about a year and recently noticed a remarkable difference in the quality of font apparence in version 3.6pre compared to earlier releases. Has anyone else noticed this? I like it.

I don't know where did you get a 3.6pre, but the release candidate 1 has been made public a couple of minutes ago, on Mozilla ftp site.
I've got a copy, but it is not on the site anymore :) I guess I will wait before installing.
Anyway, version beta 5 is also there. ftp://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/firefox/releases/

Ah -- you make a good point. Got it here https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-mozilla-daily/+archive/ppa (https://launchpad.net/%7Eubuntu-mozilla-daily/+archive/ppa) and almost daily updates these past months. Runs fine -- never a problem!
Anyway, fonts [it seems] have turned out to be something important to me so I couldn't help but notice. Seems like the older you get the less it takes to make you happy. :D

I see.The ubuntu-mozilla-daily PPA is always a couple of versions behind Mozilla. Can you at least get a beta from it?
I prefer to download from Mozilla and install it manually.

Right. That's what I said to start this thread -- but it doesn't answer my question... :(
