View Full Version : [ubuntu] BIOS not Recognizing USB HDD

I am trying to install UBUNTU 9.10 in an USB Ext. HDD.

This is what I have done so far:

1. Download LIVE CD .iso
2. Make an USB Live Session bootable (its a thumb drive) because its faster to boot.
3. Boot from the USB and install the complete version into the external HDD (following the guide partition and I am sure I installed the Boot-Loader in the correct drive)

BUT

When I reboot BIOS doesn't recognize the HDD. Its just not there. I have tried with other USB devices (both thumb drives and HDD) and BIOS does recognize them and provides me with the option to boot from them (even though there are no booting files stored in them) but it doesn't let me boot from this particular HDD. I have to admit I am not sure if it was working previous the Ubuntu installation.

Do you guys can drop me a line with a few ideas please. I am an average Joe regarding computers and a complete noob with Linux based OS.
