I've just heard that Opera 10.5 is out and I'm extremely excited to see it. Many people have said it's faster then chrome...

I'm just no sure how to install this. Being a newbie I know installing beta is not always a good idea, but I'd really like to give it a try.

If someone could show me how to do it that would be great.

Thanx

Oh, and I'm running gnome

I suppose this isn't in the repostories because it's closed source and because it's new. You can go to the opera download website and just install the .deb package.

link to 10.10 beta 1:
http://www.opera.com/browser/download/?os=linux-i386&ver=10.10b1&local=y

If you use an amd64 distribution you'll have to change the version.

once you downloaded it: double click and it should install. You won't get updates for this since it's not in the repostories.

Ow, wait a minute, it's a pre alpha version and it's not availiable for linux yet. You'll not be able to install the 10.5 version.

Thanks for checking for me. At least now I know it's not possible yet, so I wont be trying the impossible. :P

It's not impossible to use the 10.5 beta version. You can download bin file from: http://snapshot.opera.com/unix/labs-6177/

There is not deb package yet.
