Making use of 2GB of SSD in some way?

I'm installing the ubuntu NBR to an SD card. My laptop is the eeepc 2g surf model so it only has a 2gb SSD inside which is not big enough for a full ubuntu install of any version except XUbuntu. I'm hoping to partition in a way where the 2gb of SSD is used to speed up my computer in some way (only 512mb of ram), I guess I could just use it as swap, but I was thinking there is probably something more useful that I can store on it so that it doesn't have to read ALL my data at the slow SD card speeds

there is a remix of ubuntu that takes up about 1gb of hard drive space... see my sig :D

but in regards to your origional question... you could put /usr on the 2gb ssd. /usr/lib and /usr/share are read pretty frequently in day-to-day use, and could potentially be comfy on a 2gb partition.
