Bad install CD

I installed 8.4 off a CD and cant do anything because I get a grub error 18 every time I start my computer. I dont seem to know enough to fix the issue.. I am assuming that my CD was bad and I am wondering if I get a new CD if my computer will install it or will this grube error prevent a new installation.

If there is only Ubuntu on the machine, then just try a clean reinstall with another version (9.04 and/or 9.10). If you for some reason want to stay with 8.04, you could also burn a new copy from
http://releases.ubuntu.com/hardy/
and see if it works better.
