I thought maybe a new intro would help... i just did a new install on a computer with a blank hard drive, the install went well and when I reboot I get a message
Grub loading....
Error 18

the system is locked up and I cant get it to do anything.

I have no idea what to do about this.

this is a grub error.

you will need to re-install grub.

If you have the CD (which I guess you do) then you should following this howto guide (http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=224351) by Catlet should sort you out.

I'm not sure why your grub should be "corrupted" on a clean install though??

did you have any problems during your install?

are you dual booting this terminal??

did you do an integrity check on the CD?

it could be any of the above things preventing GRUB from properly being installed?

thanks for the help but I dont understand enough about computers to even answer your questions... I went to the link you sent and I don't know enough to follow it. I have tried to re install the disk but the computer wont let me do anything unless there is something else I can try... something simpler I think Im stuck... this is not a good intro to ubuntu
