Hi. I had Ubuntu installed but then installed a differenet Linux distribution and then reinstalled Ubuntu. Now My display settings are off and Flash player won't install.
My first install went almost perfectly.
Nothing has changed and less than 24 hours since I switched.

Any ideas as to why this happened.
I had to install several times on my notebook too before settings would take.
Is there some residual data in ram causing this or?

I had Kubuntu installed on my notebook and had a problem with the keyboard lan't find an answer to my keyboard problem so I reloaded the same Kubuntu OS and that install was seriously screwed up, wouldn't update no flash player , display all messed up.
then I installed Xubuntu once and it was fine. I'm assuming that if I reistall Xubuntu on my notebook I'm screwed!

Boot your Live CD; use Gparted and delete every thing in your HH. Then format it ext4. Try installing again.

I had originally loaded Ubuntu 9.04 because I had it.
So when it didn't work I started downloading Ubuntu 9.10 and the display is perfect now.
I think that this accomplished something very similar to what you suggested.
But I will definatly use gparted on my next install.

Thanks.
