Hey I have a laptop thats being stubborn and refuses to boot the xubuntu live cd like it cannot read the disc, while it will boot a FreeDos live cd. I can put the xubuntu CD in while in freedos and view it in as the X directory, is there anyway that I can try and boot the live CD from the FreeDOS interface

Nope. Do you have Windows on the hard drive? When you put in the Xubuntu CD with Windows running it will give you a menu and one of the options is "help me boot from CD" or something like that. It temporarily sets your windows bootloader to use the CD I believe. Try that if you can and see if it fairs better.
If not you may need to burn a new Xubuntu disc.

yeah I guess I'll have to burn another at a very low speed its like the CD rom drive can't read it fast enough
