I have setted up a new desktop and I have tryed many times to install ubuntu on it, but everytime I had problemms... (I have installed in the past many ubuntu installations). Now I run live cd 8.04, and I can't install it... I have tryed 9.10 live cd but it could'n boot. I tryed both of them installed from my windows installation, it installs and then I can't boot them. Now I can't install them because I can't see my hard drives. My system is:
Intel core i7 920
Mo/Bo ASUS P6T SE
ATI HD 4730
4GB DDR3 ADATA ram
HDD1 WD velociraptor 150GB 10k rpm
HDD2 SAMSUNG 1TB
... (I have more but no matters tv tuner...)

I have to install ubuntu in HDD1, that includes my windows instalation.

At boot from the Live CD when the menu appears hit F4 and choose safe graphics mode. For more info see here: https://help.ubuntu.com/community/BootOptions

If that does not work try the alternate text based install which BTW is way more powerful than the Live CD with more options such as RAID & LVM but just not as pretty as the Live CD. Get it here (http://www.ubuntu.com/getubuntu/downloadmirrors#alternate).

Your ATI vid card may be the culprit.
