Hi

I have a old (very old) laptop.
after installing Xubuntu it runs acceptable but after updating it needs more than several hours to get to the login screen
i'm trying to install the updates one by one and reboot between but would like to know if someone knows this problem and can explain what is happening

thanks a lot

PS : the critical updates are installed and the computer still runs ok

Is it OK after you log in or is it still really slow?

old is a omnibook 900
192Mb ram and 399 Mh or someting

and yes after booring it continued slow

i have installed ubuntu again and now removed the pakages i do not need before upgrading
then i upgragded the system in steps of 4 pakages at the time to see if it makes the system slow but it is now running verry well

thanks for the input and effort

It's pro'lly a good idea to run Computer Janitor after an update (and especially after an upgrade). Old and new stuff sometimes conflict, creating slowdowns.
