Sadly it has been a while since I've used a Linux operating system on my computer, and I downloaded the Kubuntu Live CD as well as the alternate basic download program. I would burn the image to a blank disk however when I go to install the OS I keep getting messages on many different parts saying the installer is corrupt. I don't know what the problem is with trying to install this program, but I'm sadly starting to become very upset from this. I downloaded the Live CD from many different mirrors. I think it was 7 or 8. I'm getting this message on every single one of these. I have no idea what I'm doing wrong. I used Magic ISO to make this bootable disk. I can get OpenSUSE and Mandriva to install on my computer without any problems, but I love to use Kubuntu cause it's just easier to use and user friendly. Any help on this thank you, and if you need more information please ask.

Hi & welcome,

Firstly, check that your down loaded image is not corrupt --> https://help.ubuntu.com/community/HowToMD5SUM Covers that via Win, or Linux.

If it does not pass, then head over to --> http://www.kubuntu.org/getkubuntu

Next - burn the iso at 4X speed (or slower) - If your present driver does not support that slow a speed. If you cannot burn at that slow a speed, or need any further help --> https://help.ubuntu.com/community/BurningIsoHowto will help you out.

Finally (phew !!) - check the CD image, as per the md5sum link above.

Cheaper cd-r's seem to work better, also it's never amiss to clean the cd drive lens if you have a cleaning kit.

If your cd fails to verify, then you're going to have to get someone else to burn it for you. It does sometimes happen that cd drives just cannot burn iso images (the tolerances are much tighter than for, say, music).

Hope that gets you sorted.

Regards,

Phill.

I downloaded that program to check it on Windows, and it passed the compare testing on there. I'm going to try it with 9.04 since I still have a copy of that on my Windows computer, and see how that goes. If it still has a problem installing then I'm thinking there might be something wrong with CDROM drive. I'll let you know if anything gets better with this one or not. I did a request for a CD for Kubuntu just in case I still have bad luck.

That little install program is pretty nice. Thank you for putting that on here.

Well I found a link for Jubuntu 9.04 and got that to install perfectly. I'll just run that till I get a pre made copy of 9.10. The slowest I can record is 8x which 9.04 did fine, but 9.10 still isn't working at all.
