I see that the BBC is taking comments after Microsoft announced the six different flavors Vista will come in.

At the bottom of the page, you can submit your comments on it, for good or for bad.

Of course, they'll be screening your submission. So be nice, either way. :D

fine for the 'Fischer Price' users who want to write a word document

Soon, we will not be able to use our computer, unless Microsoft, record labels or film studios give us permision.

I don't know if the BBC will post this, but I had this to say:

I've tried the Vista beta at work. If my employer insisted upon my using it at work, I would do so. However, I will continue to use Ubuntu Linux at home. Vista just isn't good enough.

Mine was something along those lines, with emphasis on the price of Ubuntu versus Vista. I would honestly feel bad for someone who spent $200 or so on Vista at their local department store.

Don't forget Direct 10.

This thing will cause trouble for the gamers for the first year or two.

"The new Windows Vista, now with TINT CONTROL."

I borrowed that one from Bloom County. Oliver Wendell Holmes was my favorite. "Hackers as a rule don't handle obsolescence well."

"Windows Vista is much more secure!"
"I will now demonstrate Vista's new network handshake protocol"

I know, it's bad.

I liked the comment about needing the permission of Microsoft, Record Labels and Film Studios to use the computer.

It's indeed what's happening. Back in the early '90 these problems weren't there and everybody used Windows happily. Today it's a damn battle to survive everything, Microsoft, Film Studios going full fury about home copies and then the Music Industry inventing crappy stuff like DRM.

I will use the ultimate version, however, I propably won't buy it, I just get a "trial version". I will also try to find out some hack to disable all the DRM and call to home functions. Samekind of tricks that XP Antispy does. If they are too much intengrated to windows, then I'm going back to XP or maybe future Ubuntus.

Cool. They printed my comments. Stormy's too.

They spelled 'flavor' wrong, though. :p

"And as you can see here on the lower right... It now comes with an even bigger, faster blinking, more frequently appearing and generally annoying... security update available icon" ;)
